I. True wisdom: not appearance, but action
- Wisdom is known by its result, not its outward look.
- John the Baptist vs. Jesus.
- “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17)
II. The children of wisdom: the living proof
- The “children” are those whose lives are changed by God’s truth.
- A tree is known by its fruit; wisdom is known by its followers.
- “For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:35)
- “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20)
III. The world’s judgement is meaningless
- The world’s criticism of God’s ways really doesn’t matter.
- Our Role: Our transformed lives justify God’s wisdom to a watching world.
- “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” (1 Corinthians 1:25)
